Yesterday our social worker, Rick, came over for our final post placement visit. After we returned home from China we had 3 post placement visits scheduled. The first visit after one month, the second visit after 6 months, and the last visit after 12 months. Can it be possible that 12 months have already passed?!?
As with our other visits Rick was thrilled with Lily's progress. He commented repeatedly on how social and chatty Lily is. Rick also got a kick out of Lily's many facial expressions and overall just how animated and happy she is.
When Rick visits his role is more to observe Lily's interactions with us then to actually participate. Lily will have none of that. If you are coming to our house for a visit...Lily wants you to play with her...not just watch! Rick doesn't need much convincing!
In some ways I am sad to see these visits end. Rick is an adoptive parent himself and he has always offered such insightful comments, thoughtful perspectives, and kind and encouraging words. I'm glad Rick was part of our adoption journey.
