Lily and I were chatting this morning and she said to me, "When Aunt Patti adopted Christina....." When Lily and I finished the conversation we were having I mentioned to her that Aunt Patti didn't adopt Christina and that Christina had grown inside Aunt Patti's body.
Lily looked at me with the funniest expression and said, "Well, isn't that kinda crazy????"
I thought that was so sweet, funny...and eye opening!
Speaking of kinda crazy, Saturday morning I was cleaning up breakfast dishes and I could hear Lily in the Living Room saying, "Caps! Caps for sale! 50 cents a piece!" This is what I saw when I walked in the Living Room.

I'm telling you, this end of the school year stuff is F.U.N.
When Lily came home from the Summer Birthday Party on Tuesday she was bursting with exciting things to share. Not only had she made a birthday crown, eaten cupcakes, and received a sand bucket filled with goodies, she also had a special inivitation for Kentucky Bear.
Kentucky Bear is by far Lily's favorite Teddy Bear. Tony brought Lily this bear 2 years ago when he went on a business trip to...you guessed it...Kentucky.
Truth be told, Lily is not a huge fan of stuffed animals. However, if she had to pick one it would be Kentucky Bear. Hands down.
Lily was very sweet when she gave the invitation to Kentucky Bear. Apparently, Kentucky was a little nervous about going to school, but Lily assured him that she would be with him the entire time and then all was right with the world.

Lily was beyond excited Thursday when it was time to bring Kentucky to school. It was so cute to see all the children walking into school carrying their favorite little friends.
The children prepared a picnic lunch for themselves and their furry friends. The lunch consisted of: honey sandwiches (of course!), hollow logs with ants (celery and raisins), and bear paws (a graham cracker with cream cheese, ginger snap in the center, and 3 chocolate chips for toes).

As if the Summer Birthday Party and the Teddy Bear Picnic weren't enough to make this a great week...today was Lily's last ballet class. Okay, that's not the great part. The great part was that the last ballet class was a "Beach Party" class and the children wore their bathing suits. Lily had a wonderful time!

It's going to be hard to top this week.
Today at Lily's preschool there was a little birthday party for all of the children that have summer birthdays.
When a child's birthday falls during the school year their family provides a special snack for the day. The lucky birthday boy or girl also makes and wears a special birthday crown and has a few additional privileges during the class.
After each birthday celebration this school year Lily has told me in great detail all about the fun things the birthday child was able to do. Lily loved that the special birthday person was able to be the line leader...and invite everyone to come to the snack table...and decorate a crown with colored glitter...and...and...you get the idea!
When Lily learned that today she was going to be one of the "special birthday children" I thought she was going to jump right out of her skin! Cute doesn't begin to describe her reaction.
Six children in Lily's class have summer birthdays. Since 6 families were participating we were able to provide snacks, balloons, and treat bags...I mean buckets.
Judging from the looks on the children's faces as they left school today I think they all had a great day. Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera ready to capture that moment. (What was I thinking???) However, I did grab this cute shot as soon as we walked in the door.
Yep, it's that time again. Time for another Lily-ism post. Sorry. I just can't help myself!
The other day Lily said to me, "Why do I call you Mommy and not TJ?"
Before I had a chance to respond, Lily followed up with, "You know, Mommy, you call me Lily and not daughter or child."
Hmm...she's got a point there ;-)
As Lily and I were having this conversation I'm quite certain I could hear Mary Agnes...I mean Mom...laughing all the way from heaven!
Then on Sunday morning Lily had the following conversation with her father...
Lily - "Daddy can you come into the bathroom for a minute?"
Tony - "Sure. What do you need?"
Lily - "Can you put your lotion away?"
Tony - "Um, sure. Why? Was my lotion bothering you?"
Lily - "No. I just think you should clean up after yourself when you're finished with something."
After this little exchange Tony walked straight into the kitchen and said, "Did you just hear that??? I don't think I can live with two of you! Seriously. You're raising a mini you. I'm going to start calling the two of you Big T and Little T."
Maybe someday a little bit of Big T and Little T's OCD will rub off on Daddy T. Hey, a girl can dream...can't she???

Okay, I'll admit this picture is completely unrelated to this post. I just can't have a post without a shot of that sweet face!
On Thursday Lily and I went to the Preakness Celebration Balloon Festival. The weather was kind of iffy, so we pretty much had the entire festival to ourselves!

We took a tethered hot air balloon ride and played inside a hot air balloon that was lying on its side.

Who knew something so full of "hot air" could be so much fun?!?!
We spent last weekend in Virginia visiting Laura, Rich, and the boys. It never seems to matter what we do when we're together...whether we're non-stop busy or just sitting around catching up...we always have a wonderful time! Last weekend was no exception.
On Saturday, Rich and Tony played a round of golf. Apparently, the fact that Tony hasn't played in a long time was obvious, but that didn't stop him from having a great time.
While the guys were golfing the rest of us spent the day at the park and going out for lunch. Can I just ask you how many 16 year old boys do you know that would spend the day at the park with their mother, their Godmother, and an almost 4 year old??? Not many I'm guessing! Not only did Adam, Ben, and Sam join us they were a lot of fun to be with...even when the waitress accidentally dumped a full glass of Mountain Dew in Adam's lap! I tell you - my Godsons are the most delightful teenage boys you'll ever meet!!
Saturday night Ben and Sam went to the prom. It was so much fun to see them get all dressed up. I think Lily was only slightly disappointed when she realized she wasn't going to be Ben or Sam's date ;-).
Sunday morning Tony and Lily invaded Laura's kitchen and made me a yummy cooked breakfast for Mother's Day.
In between all of that we ate too much, laughed too much, and just enjoyed being together!
To all the mothers who have touched my life...
...My own mother
...My grandmothers
...My sisters
...My aunts
...My godmother
...My mother-in-law
...My friends
...Lily's First mother
...Lily's Foster mother
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I've learned so much from all of you about the mother I want to be!

Tuesday night Tony, Lily, Dad, and I went to the Oriole game. It was a pretty cold night for Lily's first ball game. I don't normally think of watching baseball in winter coats!

The firm Tony works for has incredible seats in the first two rows right behind third base. I've never sat so close to the field before. Hmm...I hope Lily doesn't think this is where she'll always sit when she goes to the stadium!!
Since the game didn't start until Lily's bed time we didn't stay long enough to see the Orioles beat the Yankees...or long enough to see the fourth inning for that matter!

I'm not sure what Lily enjoyed more...going to the game...or staying up past her bed time!!
