You Can Go Now

Last week Lily attended Miss Jen's Princess Dance Camp. This was Lily's first camp experience. Of course, this wasn't a sleep away camp. It was 3 hours a day for 4 days...and she loves Miss Jen...but still I was worried.

Camp began on Tuesday morning and I had somewhere I really wanted to be shortly after camp was scheduled to start. I was concerned that Lily might have a hard time at drop off. Since I would be somewhere where a ringing phone wouldn't be welcome I asked Katie if she would mind "babysitting" Lily while she was at camp. You know, basically hang out in the hallway in case Lily needed her until I got back. Yes, I know I have issues. Why do you ask?

Happily, Lily didn't need Katie...or me...at all. In fact, she had a blast! Not only at camp, but also going out to lunch with Katie afterwards. Lily loves, Loves, LOVES Katie and wants to spend as much time as is humanly possible with her. So even though Lily didn't "need" Katie on Tuesday, she was thrilled that Katie was there.

On Wednesday I had barely finished signing Lily in at camp when she turned to me and said most seriously, "You can go now, Mommy." Umm...what happened to that little girl who just a few months ago would literally cling to my leg crying when I tried to leave???

Don't get me wrong...I am absolutely THRILLED that Lily is more confident and secure. I love that she now knows that I will always come back.

Lily also made another BIG step. Lily put on tap shoes! Not only did she put them on...she walked with them on...she danced with them on...and loved it.

That might not seem like a big deal, but our girl is SERIOUSLY sound sensitive. So this is HUGE! In fact, Lily asked if she could take ballet and tap in the fall. We've come a long way baby!
