Today at 10:00 am was our US Consulate Appointment (CA). Lily was napping at the time so we decided not to go. Seriously, we didn't go....not because Lily was napping but because only Shigu, our agency representative, went. He collected all of our paperwork and went to the Consulate. Honestly, I felt a little anxious handing over our paperwork. Not because I don't trust Shigu (even though he makes me nuts!!) but because that paperwork is so important and I have been guarding it with my life! Our only responsibility for the CA was to hang out in our hotel room from 10:00 - 11:00 in case the Consulate had any questions. Lily napped the whole time and the phone never rang (thank God)...but talk about anti-climatic! Shigu did call us when he returned from the Consulate to let us know everything went smoothly.
Consulate appointment....what consulate appointment?
Somebody is waking up....and it's not Daddy.
Thought you might like to see my foot!
Tomorrow we will head to the Consulate at 4:00 pm for Lily's official swearing in as a United States Citizen. We will receive Lily's US Passport and then head directly to the airport to fly back to Beijing. We will stay in Beijing for one night and then fly home on Wednesday at 6:30 pm.
April 23rd is already a very special day in my family. Today would have been my parent's 47th Wedding Anniversary. Although my Dad used to tease my Mom and say "I've heard of some men who only get 25 years for murder!" I know he would give anything to be celebrating this day with her!
Today is also Mary Beth and Ed's 24th Wedding Anniversary. Happy Anniversary Aunt BaBa and Uncle Egg!
Today...I love rice congee!

We are also celebrating a special anniversary today...one week as a FAMILY!! Tony and I have never been this happy and already are having a hard time remembering what life was like before we met our sweet Lily. As anxious as we are to get home we also know that going home means going back to real life. How will we work, grocery shop, pay bills, and all the other day to day things when all we want to do is marvel at every sound Lily makes and each breath she takes?
Tony and I have really enjoyed our time in China and experiencing first hand the people, culture, food, sights and sounds of the wonderful country our Lily comes from. However, it's time to go home. Ah...home, sweet, home! We can't wait! Living out of suitcases and becoming a family in a hotel room has it's limitations...even if the hotel has a waterfall and a jade ship. We are so looking forward to being in our home with our daughter!

Your family can't wait for you to get home! We miss you, we are so excited to actually be able to see Lily - in living color! We can't wait to have Lily love us (we love her already). I'd like to say we promise not to be over attentive and pushy, but have we met?
