We've all heard the expression "Hurry Up And Wait"....well we're experiencing the exact opposite! What we have now is.....Wait....and then HURRY UP!!
This morning at about 7:30 we were notified that we will be leaving for China on Tuesday, April 10!!! Yes that's right...as in....4 days from now!!! We couldn't be happier! We will leave on April 10 and return on April 25. Actually, we will be coming home about 2 days after I originally thought we would be leaving for China.
We do not have our complete itinerary, yet. We should receive the detailed itinerary tomorrow. That means we don't know yet which day we will actually meet our Lily. What we do know is that our Consulate Appointment is April 23rd....my Mom and Dad's 47th Wedding Anniversary and Mary Beth and Ed's 24th Wedding Anniversary. I love that we will now have one more reason to celebrate on that day!
I know I shared before that Tony and I intentionally didn't finish everything months ago. We wanted to have things to do to keep us busy between receiving our referral and traveling to China. Whose bright idea was that?? Oh yeah, it was mine! Little did I know we would be on our way to China 4 weeks after we received Lily's referral. Believe me I'm not complaining...we are beyond thrilled....and still in a bit of shock.
Tony has been teasing me for months about "My Lists". In fact, I have a list of lists. Now, I'm not talking about 1,000 little scraps of paper (although I do have a few of those, too). What I really have is a neatly organized Excel workbook. There are sheets for: what to pack, what we need to purchase before we leave, what we want to buy in China, what needs to be done before we leave, what needs to be done while we're gone, etc. If you look in the dictionary under Anal Retentive you will find my picture. Honestly, these lists are really coming in handy now. Instead of having 2 or 3 weeks left to accomplish what's on the lists we now have 2 or 3 days....but we are plowing through them. I have to confess I do get some sick sense of satisfaction from crossing things off!
I will sign off for now and post again tomorrow with details of our itinerary.

Now I know your lists are important but really - this is the only list you need
1. Go to China
2. Pick up Lily
3. Come home!
Anything and everything else will fall into place. We are here to help in anyway we can. We love you and Tony and your beautiful Lily more than you might be able to guess. Remember - your shoulders aren't ear rings - so relax them; these days are what memories are made of - so enjoy them; your family & friends are here to support you - so lean on them - and God has made all of this possible - don't forget to thank Him!
again not really anonymous - your favorite baby sister
I've been sharing my excitement with Tony, but wanted to tell you TJ - that I am thinking of you - and will be checking the log daily to keep up with your exciting adventure!
