This morning Lily attended her very first day of preschool...and LOVED it!
Lily is attending a co-op preschool one morning a week. It is a "parent observation program"...so, I guess I should say Lily and I are attending preschool!

I was interested to see how Lily would do in this new setting and the good news is she did GREAT. Often in new situations Lily prefers to stay right by my side...or on my lap...or in my arms...you get the picture. Today, she warmed up very quickly. In fact, she left me in the dust quite a few times. It is so much fun to watch her confidence grow!!
When we arrived in the classroom Lily did a little exploring and then gravitated immediately to a table filled with buses, motorcycles, tractors, etc.
The kids had some time for free play and then the teacher brought them all together for circle time. During circle time each child stood up in the front of the group to introduce themselves. Lily was the first to go. She was a little unsure...but then she said her name nice and loud and quickly ran back to sit down. It was so cute!
The morning also included singing, a treasure hunt, painting, a snack, and time on the playground...all of that in 2 hours!

Today it really hit me when I was taking pictures of Lily how different I was feeling 7 years ago. As I grieved for the families who suffered unimaginable losses and for our nation on September 11, 2001, I can remember thinking, "Thank God we don't have children." At the time, I couldn't imagine trying to comfort or explain the unexplainable to my child...the one person who would expect me to have answers. I still can't.
Of course, now I thank God every day for Lily. I also continue to pray for peace in our world and hope that someday there will be no need for impossible explanations.

What a milestone - it's going fast isn't it? Everything they say is true - savor every moment.
