Mid-Autumn Moon Festival

In China and other Asian countries people celebrate the Mid-Autumn or Harvest Moon festival on the 15th day of the eighth month of the lunar calendar. On our calendar...that date is today...September 14.

In China the Mid-Autumn festival is comparable to our Thanksgiving. We didn't celebrate the festival tonight by eating Chinese food...or traditional Thanksgiving fair...we went out for pizza!

When we arrived home the moon was shining brightly. As I looked at the big beautiful moon my mind drifted to a brave woman half a world away. I wondered if she had looked at this same moon, too. Maybe she thought about the precious baby girl she brought into the world. The same precious girl that fills my days, my heart, my life with love.
