I started this whole crazy thing as a form of online therapy. I had no way of knowing back then that I would still be adding updates well over a year later! Honestly, this whole thing started because I was going a little crazy. Everyone was sick of listening to me whine about the extended wait to bring Lily home and I just needed a place to vent...hence the birth of Finally a Family.
For a long time no one knew about the blog...not even Tony. In fact, Tony was less then pleased when he learned I had started a blog. Tony was adamant that he wanted to keep the blog private. He did not want me to list our blog on any adoption sites and he did not want me to link my blog to any of my online friend's blogs. I totally agreed. The blog was really just my little private place to go when I needed to talk...to myself!
Once we received Lily's referral I sent e-mails out to family and friends with a link to the blog so they could see Lily's beautiful pictures. After I sent the e-mail out it hit me...yikes...THE BLOG...what have I written about? Will I offend anyone? Did I swear? Should I go back and do some edits??? I decided...no. Any venom I spewed or curse words I used were how I was feeling at the time. I did not want to go back and candy coat how I was feeling during the wait for our sweet Lily.
Since the time we received Lily's referral the blog has more or less become Lily's online baby book. I've been terrible about actually printing pictures or starting a "real" baby book. For now, this is as good as it gets. While I continue to keep the blog "private"...at least as private as you can be on the World Wide Web...Tony has loosened up a bit. I can't tell you how many times Tony has told me, "When I was at XYZ client today I showed them the blog." Let me tell you how much that shocks me!
I'm often surprised when people share with me that they are still checking in on us via this blog. If you do stop by from time to time please take a minute to say, "Hi!". You don't have to have an account or anything fancy. Just click the Comments link...add your comment...and use the Anonymous radio button. It would be great to hear from you.
This weekend we visited with one of the families that travelled with us to China. Here are a few pictures from our visit. Thanks for dinner Jim and Wendy...we had a wonderful time and love spending time with you and your beautiful family!

At least every other day I am checking out your blog to see how everyone is doing. It's so wonderful to see how much Lily has grown and to see how she has blossomed into a happy confident child. You and Tony have done a fabulous job!!
yeah, yeah, yeah - so I check everyday. So I talk to you everyday, so I see you..well not everyday but as often as possible.
