Pure Happiness

Yesterday was the most amazing day. To finally be able to see Lily and realize that we were right...our daughter really is in China...brought us an incredible sense of peace. I can't stop looking at her pictures. I look at her and to me it feels like coming home.

Last night we got both of our families together to share the wonderful news. We met at a small local Chinese restaurant and took the place over. We had so much fun sharing Lily's pictures with everyone. Lily will be the first grandchild on Tony's side of the family and the 10th grandchild on mine! If last night is any indication Lily's extended family is as crazy about her as her daddy and I are!

My family gave us so many really beautiful gifts! We definitely weren't expecting gifts...but it certainly helped us to realize that we haven't been the only ones waiting for Lily!

My sister, Mary Beth, gave us the most perfect gift. When we first started this adoption journey I had a dream about Lily and in my dream she was wearing a precious yellow searsucker sundress and white birdcage sandals. Last night Mary Beth gave us the exact outfit from my dream!! When I opened the package it literally took my breath away. What makes the story more amazing is that Mary Beth found that dress and bought it the day after I told her about the dream. That's been well over a year ago now.

After dinner was finished, John (our friend that owns the restaurant) translated some of the documents that were sent to us from China. One of the documents provides details about when Lily was brought into foster care. I still can't quite believe this but on that day Lily was wearing a white and yellow outfit!

Call it a coincidence, fate, luck...call it whatever you want. As for me, I say it's definitely a God thing!

Wow! what an amazing journey you have been on and this is just the beginning!! Lily is as blessed to have you and tony as you are to have her.

Tj it has been so long since I have seen you but love knows no time or distance right? Words can't express how happy i am for you and Tony nor can they express the feelings I had as I read the story of Lily and when I saw how beautiful she was Wow!

Thank you for sharing your story... I can't wait for the next chapter!

Love,
your cousin laura

There is not a child on this planet who is more fortunate than Lily Katherine Yin Parrott became over this past week. Lily's fortune isn't measured in lottery tickets, dollars, or yuan...Lily's fortune is measured in the pure, unconditional love that a parent feels for their child.

To watch TJ blossom into such a loving mother - BEFORE LILY EVEN "OFFICIALLY" ARRIVED - has been a privilege. I knew you had it in you all along...and there are at least 9 other "disciples" of "Auntie Sugar" who could have told you the same thing - but it was best that you figure it out on your own. To be honest - Mary Agnes finally gave you the best gift she's ever given you in your entire life...it's just a shame she can't be here to see what an incredible mother you've already become.

Learning to overcome disappointment while never waivering in your drive and love for Lily - and the patience that you were forced to exercise throughout this entire waiting period were the final pieces to the puzzle. Now you're ready to continue through this amazing journey called "motherhood". The bond between a mother & daughter is like no other...but I'll remind you of those skills you've so painfully mastered in about 14 years (lol)!

My heart is so full right now that words can't express my happiness for your FAMILY. "The Big Guy" came through in a major way on this one, my friend!

I love you.
