Daddy Is Unemployed

Okay, so it's only for the weekend...but it got your attention didn't it??

After 11 years, yesterday was Tony's last day with his current firm. It seems hard to believe...but it's true. Tony is moving on. It's time. It's a good thing. It's a very good thing...but it's still hard to believe.

11 years is a long time. That's more than a 1/4 of Tony's life! So much has happened during that time. We both lost a parent, we got married, we became parents ourselves, and 1,000 other things...big and small...that make up 11 years. Not to mention the lasting relationships Tony formed with co-workers and clients.

Hi Daddy, want to go out to lunch with me?

Thursday Lily and I went up to have lunch with Tony. It really struck me when I walked into the office that this would be the last time we would be coming here to meet Tony for lunch. I can't begin to count how many times Tony and I have met for lunch over the years. Of course, we will continue to meet for lunch...just at a new address!

Hey Daddy, what happened to all the pictures of me you had in your office?

I know this will seem like a strange analogy but when I think of Tony's time at G & V it kinds of reminds me of an old favorite sweater I had. When I first got the sweater I loved it and wore it all the time. Then, after a few years I noticed I wasn't really wearing it very often and it was just hanging in my closet...but I couldn't part with it. At one point I decided to try the sweater on again and it no longer fit like it once did...yet I still couldn't bring myself to let it go. A few more years passed and I finally figured out that just because at one time it was my favorite sweater it didn't mean I had to keep it forever. I could and should let it go and make room for something new. That's how I view what Tony is doing.

This is the last time I'm going to see these folks??? I better blow them a big kiss!

Monday is the start of something new for Tony. I know change isn't easy but I believe it's just the beginning of great things to come! I'm so excited for you Tony!!

Congrats to Tony. I loved your analogy but I especially love the way Tony looks at Lily in these pictures. Oh he is so smitten:)
