I said, "She sure does."
To which Lily responded, "When we go to China on vacation I still want YOU to be my mommy. Okay?"
I quickly assured Lily that no matter where we are I will ALWAYS be her mommy and that we will always be a FOREVER family.
We don't have any immediate plans to return to China, but it is something we've talked about doing when Lily is a little older. It just breaks my heart to realize what Lily must have been thinking in that sweet little head of hers when we talked about going back to China.

TJ, we adoptive parents need not feel badly about the questions our kids ask but about the ones they may feel they can't ask. Clearly, Lily is comfortable asking you anything and that is fabulous. I doubt if Lily had any angst over the visit to China; she just wanted to establish that what she wanted - to have you and Tony for her parents - was the way it would be in China or anywhere else. So, stop worrying and give yourself a pat on the back - you're doing fine!

Thanks, Eileen!
I appreciate your feedback.
Honestly, I'm glad Lily is asking me so many questions now. Even though they do sometimes catch me off guard!
I hope this practice will help me answer the really tough questions Lily may have in the years to come!
