You Know You're A Mother When...

...the highlight of your birthday is your daughter going poopy on the big girl potty!!!! I really had a great day and that was just the icing on the cake. (Ok, I'll admit that was pretty gross!)

Thus far, Lily has shown absolutely no interest in potty training. None. Zip. Zero. Lily will tell me when she has a "soaky diaper" or when she needs to go poopy but that hasn't equated to a desire to actually use the big girl potty.

When I ask Lily if she wants to wear big girl panties or use the big girl potty the answer is always, "maybe later" or "not yet". I'm not interested in pressuring Lily into potty training. I know it will happen when she's ready and not a minute before.

Look, I'm wearing big girl panties!

So, how is it that she went poopy in the big girl potty today? Well, I was trying (unsuccessfully) to collect a urine sample (I'll explain why in a later post)...too bad it wasn't a stool sample I was after!

Lily was so, so, proud of herself...and Mommy was pretty proud, too!

Ok, enough potty talk!

Last night Tony and I went out for a very nice romantic dinner to celebrate my birthday. We split a yummy bottle of wine (split in the sense that Tony nursed one glass while I finished off the rest), enjoyed a delicious 3 course dinner, and just having some quiet time for the two of us.

Katie came over to watch Lily and they had a great time together. I think it's safe to say we've come a long way since our first date night!

Today, Lily and I went out to lunch with Mary Beth and Patti. We had a great lunch and some quality girl time.

I had planned to make dinner tonight but Tony called and said, "Honey, you've been cooking too much lately. You deserve another night off. How about the 3 of us go out and get a bite to eat?" So, that's what we did. I mean...how could I refuse?!?

Wait. You don't believe that's how it really went down??? Hey, it's MY birthday...MY blog...I'm telling the story MY way!

Mommy says I'm the best present EVER!

Just look at how much Lily has changed since my last birthday. I just love that she's getting older...and I'm NOT!
